To update anyone who cares: Gravity 5 November (with bubbles more than a minute and a half apart yesterday): 1.017 at 64 degrees fahrenheit. Slightly hazy orange brown, floral hop nose, slight sweetness on tangy hop palate, long dry hop finish. No...

Thanks JD. That sounds like a great idea. Court will be bringing a tent for us to be under, but the weather report is looking good.

JD, I like the idea. Grats on the son buying a house and moving out. I will throw my counter flow chiller in the car to bring for a display of a second type of chiller. I am assuming that somebody will have their immersion chiller on hand.

OK - after much investigation, I think this is what I can do. I can bring my burner and a couple of pots and some prepped water and a brew bucket and a shade. If I spend about $25 ( that covers a can of extract, a couple pounds of spray malt, a co...

Latest Club Meeting Minutes

Hello Schooners
There was not a lot on the agenda at this months meeting. There was some discussion on what we as a group should do for the Teach a Friend to Homebrew day. More details will be available on this later as plans are made.

Happy Hour this month will be at the Barrel Head at 6 pm Oct 22.

Any member that would like something blasted out to the group as a whole can notify an officer to do this.

We would also like to encourage everyone to post often to keep this an active site.

The following beers were sampled at the meeting.

Dave- Octoberfest and an ESB
JD- Yuengling Porter
Bill- Kolsh and 2 commercial beers by 2 Brothers Brewing, "Flemish Red and Red Eye Coffee Porter"
Court- Double IPA and "Flat Tire", a Fat Tire clone
Brian- A Mead from our Mead Day
Shannon- Scottish Ale

How To Brew by John Palmer is one of the most useful books to a homebrewer, new and old. Palmer graciously put the first edition of his book on the internet. It is free to read and print. www.howtobrew.com

Homebrew Talk forums are a good source of information. Run a quick search can often yield needed information, especially in a hurry. Homebrewtalk.com

Brew365 is a great source of information and recipes. They even list out recipes to clone some of the popular commercial brews. www.brew365.com

Brew-Monkey is another repository for information and recipes. Especially of note are their interviews with craft brewers. www.brew-monkey.com

Hopville is a budding community for homebrewers and their recipes. It's still under development, but instead of being "in beta" it's been "getting bettah" all the time. http://hopville.com/whats-brewing

Basic Brewing is run by James Spencer and is a weekly podcast on homebrewing and general beer topics. His video offerings are a little more intermittent but just as good. The nice thing about audio is that you can learn something useful even while you are doing some sort of menial activity. If you have never watched or listened to any of his productions, scan the archives for anything of interest.Audio Video
